General Threats
Threats can be received by mail, phone, or even email; and ALL should be taken seriously.
If you receive a threat:
- Stay calm
- Report the threat immediately to the Federal Police at 7777 (DOC in Boulder) or 911. If using 911 you must report the address the threat
is directed toward. In Boulder it is the Department of Commerce Boulder Labs, 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO, and the name of the appropriate building.
- Boulder employees in the David Skaggs Research Center follow the Emergency Procedures outlined within the *2006 Occupant Emergency Plan for the
David Skaggs Research Center (link below) as applicable. (Bomb Threats, Suspicious Packages, Fire, Explosion, Hazardous Materials). Complete,
as applicable the Threatening Call Sheet located on page 8 of the *2006 Occupant Emergency Plan.

Bomb Threats
If you receive a bomb threat:
- Maintain your composure, take a deep breath, and relax
- Report the threat immediately to the Federal Police at 7777 (DOC Boulder only) or 911 from an alternate telephone.
- Do not pull the fire alarm. This may actually cause a bomb to go off.
Take note of as much of the following information as you can:
- The caller's voice (i.e.., familiar, angry, laughter, stuttering, lisp, disguised, accent, calm, deep, slow, slurred, speech, crying, distressed,
recorded, etc.)
- Any background sounds?
- When is the bomb going to explode?
- What does the bomb look like?
- Where was the bomb placed?
- What will cause it to explode?
- Why did caller place the bomb?
- What is your name, address?
- Did the caller leave his/her name or group affiliation?
- As close as possible, what were the callers exact words?
